What limitations do I have when building my website?
Each new version brings in new features which are automatically integrated into your website. Currently we do not offer the following capabilities:
There is no option for simultaneous editing of the same content by several users. Page-locking is on our todo list.
There are no different administrative access levels, approval work flow and history of changes.
There isn't an integrated shopping cart system with online credit card processing. But you can seamlessly integrate shopping cart and buy-now buttons through E-junkie, PayPal, 2CheckOut, Google Checkout and all merchant tools that allow for HTML script integration.
You can't use the tool as a general hosting solution - we don't offer FTP, SSH or ability to run custom scripts. We provide instead an integrated platform where you can build web sites without any need of FTP, SSH or scripting knowledge.
You need to be connected to the internet in order to edit your site.
No, we doesn't support FTP. The product has been designed with the aim to allow people without technical skills to create feature-rich web sites. We are not trying to compete with companies offering standard FTP-based hosting. This market has been saturated and we can't really provide any competitive advantage there.
Can I create an option for paid membership on my site?
Yes, you can easily set up paid membership on your site by following these steps:
Set up appropriate Access Restriction (by email and password) on all pages and resources you want to make available to paid members only.
Then add a PayPal button on a public page of your site so, visitors can use it to pay the membership fee.
Once you receive a payment notification from PayPal, you'll need to add the person's email address to the mailing list used for the Access Protection and send them the password required for viewing the protected resources.
Yes, you can. Having your own Page Not Found will help you catch requests to pages that do not exist on your site without losing any traffic.
If you happened to delete a page from your site, change a page URL, or if a different site has been hosted under your domain before, you might be getting a lot of hits to non-existing pages on your site. They usually come from obsolete search engine records, not updated bookmarks, links from other sites, or simply mistyped URLs.
Instead of losing that traffic you may have it directed to some page from your site, e.g to your Home page. From Manage Pages option in Control Panel find the page to which the traffic should be redirected and set it as your custom not found page. All hits to non-existing pages on your site will now be redirected to your custom not found page.
How do I add a page without listing it in the Navigation Menu?
Click the New Page label at the top left of your site in Admin View.
Fill in the page title and deselect the "Add to Nav Menu" check box
Press "Add"
The newly added page will not be listed in the navigation. You can link to it from other pages on your site.
My navigation menu is missing in Normal view although it is visible in Admin view.
Please check if your Navigation Menu is not hidden from viewers. Any content hidden from viewers is not visible in Normal View even after publishing the page, and appears greyed in Admin view. To make the menu visible in Normal View, roll over the menu and make sure a blue rectangle will mark the area of the whole menu. Then, from the blue wrench icon appearing on top left select More and "Show to viewers". Publish the page. Your menu should now be available in Normal View as well.
Can I create an intro (splash) page with no navigation on it?
Yes, choose Splash layout for your page, from Page Layout option. The Splash page layout has no navigation, just content areas.
The font, color and size of the predefined text styles have been carefully selected to match the feel and look concept of each particular design. The fixed number of styles ensures flawless migration between the different designs and therefore, most designs do not have the option to change the text styles. Some of the advanced designs, however, feature an extended set of font themes as well as the ability to upload your own CSS. Advanced users may also change the text styles using the HTML Snippet option.
Can I paste content from other programs or internet sources inside the Text and Image Editor?
Yes, you can easily Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) content from other internet sources or documents available on your computer. When you paste the content inside the Text and Image editor all text styles will automatically be converted to match the styles of your design and preserve consistency of layout. Please note:
If you are copy-pasting text and images content from a file residing on your machine, you will be prompted to upload the images. Simply copy-paste their URLs as provided in the prompt or browse to each specific image.
If you are copy-pasting content containing elements with active scripting (for instance drop-down menus, advanced controls) these elements will be removed on pasting inside the Text and Image editor.
Why do I have strange characters showing up inside my text content?
If your browser displays glyphs, question mark or other characters inside your page content, you need to change your encoding as follows:
1. Change your browser encoding to 'Western':
for Internet Explorer - go to View > Encoding > select Western European (Windows)
for Mozilla Firefox - go to View > Character Encoding > select Western (Windows-1252)
2. Change the encoding for each of your pages: in the Admin mode of your site, click Control Panel and select Page Properties. Open Special Features panel and from the Encoding dropdown select Windows 1252.
